🚦 Tips to Avoid Campaign Filtering & Spam Complaints

Following best practices helps improve deliverability, reduce carrier filtering, and protect your sender reputation.

🔁 Manage Message Frequency

Set clear expectations for how often subscribers will receive messages. Limiting communication (for example, up to 5 messages per month) helps prevent opt-outs and spam complaints.

✅ Use Double Opt-In

Ensure you have express written consent from all subscribers before sending text messages.
Mobiniti’s double opt-in features enable you to confirm consent and, optionally, collect additional information, such as your first name or date of birth.

🧹 Regularly Scrub Your Opt-In List

Maintain a healthy subscriber list by removing inactive contacts.
As a general rule, consider scrubbing subscribers who have not engaged within the past 6 months to improve engagement and reduce filtering.

⛔ Include STOP Language

Every campaign must include clear opt-out instructions, such as “Reply STOP to unsubscribe.”
This is a carrier requirement and helps reduce complaints while maintaining compliance.

✍️ Avoid Character & Formatting Issues

Special or hidden characters can prevent campaigns from sending or trigger filtering.

Best practices:

  • Avoid copying and pasting text from other applications

  • Type messages directly into Mobiniti when possible

  • If needed, clean text by pasting it into Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac) before adding it to your campaign

🔢 Monitor Character Count

Check your SMS character count, spacing, and word usage to ensure your message sends correctly and does not unintentionally split into multiple segments.

🚫 Commonly Filtered or Restricted Words

Certain words and symbols are more likely to trigger carrier filtering when used excessively or without context. Use caution with terms such as:

Account, Approved, Balance, Cash, Check, Claim, Click here / Click now, Credit, Deal, Deposit, Expires / Expired, Finance / Financial / Refinance, Funds, Gift, Loan, Money, Offer, Percent (%) , Reward, Qualify / Qualified, Quote, Transfer, Visit, $

Following these guidelines helps improve message delivery, maintain compliance, and create a better experience for your subscribers.

Tips When Creating a Campaign

When you create a new campaign, please make a mental note to ensure you are selecting the appropriate Contacts or Groups!
