What is a Toll-free number?

Toll-free numbers are 10 digit numbers (800 #'s) designed for high-volume, application-driven messaging that can send Standard SMS, Long SMS, and MMS. With High Throughput, Toll-Free numbers start from 25 Messages Per Second (MPS). We can provision higher messages per second depending on the use-case. The carriers are taking an aggressive approach with filtering to combat SPAM. You may see delivery issues depending on your use-case. We help prevent this from happening by setting up a branded short domain and can also submit an approval request to white list your messages to the carriers. Voice/Call Forwarding is available on Toll-free numbers.

Examples of applications best suited for toll-free numbers include: marketing communications, large one-to-many notification bursts, and high volumes of one-to-one transnational notifications, appointment reminders, conversations, notifications, or 2FA.

How long does it take to get a Toll-free number?

Toll-free numbers can be set up on the same day. We suggest not purchasing your own toll-free number via a 3rd party company and porting it to Mobiniti as it may cause excessive delays before you can utilize it.


What are the costs associated with a Toll-free number?

Toll-free numbers are $5 per month to lease. There are no setup or other number specific related fees.

There is an additional cost for every Verizon contact messaged of $0.0025. This is a carrier fee that was implemented in February of 2020. You can read more about this change here.

To identify carrier of contacts it also requires Mobiniti to perform carrier lookup once every 7 days on contacts being messaged which is $0.001 per contact messaged.

What if I am on a standard SMS credit monthly plan?

Since you are on a monthly credit plan, any pass-through fees and lookup fees will by default try to pull from your monetary balance. In turn, this can cause messaging to be halted due to a negative balance accruing. We recommend making sure you have a $10 minimum balance and also setting up auto-recharge so your messaging is not impacted and halted due to a negative balance accruing. Anytime your balance falls below a certain threshold ($10.00 minimum) it will auto-recharge your credit card and add funds. To set up auto-recharge, check out our help guide here.

Alternatively, you can contact Mobiniti to adjust your monthly plan instead to be a monthly recurring monetary amount. The benefits of doing so include covering both your message usage as well as the pass-through fee and lookup fees which by default will try to pull from your monetary balance. It also easily allows you to try out MMS.
